About Us
Who is the face behind Fencing Time? That would be Dan Berke, whom you may have
met somewhere in your fencing travels.
Dan has been fencing since late 2000 when he decided to get back into the sport
after a long hiatus since his time fencing in college. Dan is an active competitor
in foil and travels frequently to national events to compete, and occasionally referee
and assist with bout committee. Dan is currently the chair of the Western WA division
and involved with running many of the tournaments in the Seattle area.
Outside of his fencing life, Dan is a professional software engineer. He has been
developing software as a hobby since 1984 and professionally since 1993. Dan spent
many years developing video games at a number of companies including Electronic
Arts. Currently, he works at a large, well-known software company in the Seattle
area.
