Installing your Standard License Key

After purchasing a Fencing Time Standard license, you will receive your license key via email. This key is used to convert the Trial Version of Fencing Time into the full-featured version. If you have renewed your license, these steps are also used to replace your expired (or soon-to-expire) license with the new one. Follow these simple steps to install your license key.

Before installing your license key, you must download and install Fencing Time on your computer.

Standard License Key Installation Steps

  1. Start Fencing Time from the Start menu or desktop icon.
  2. If upgrading from the trial version, when the "Trial Version" screen appears, click the "Enter License Key Now" button.
If replacing an expired license or soon-to-expire license, click "Renew Now" button on the screen that appears.
  3. On the next screen, skip down to step 3. Copy and paste the standard license key from the license email into the box on the screen. To do this, highlight the entire license key with your mouse and press Control-C on your keyboard. Return to Fencing Time and click the "Paste" button. The key should appear in the box on the screen.
  4. Click "OK".

If you entered the information correctly, Fencing Time will let you know that the key was accepted. If the key is rejected, make sure that you copied the entire key (everything between the Begin and End markers.) Also, be sure that you used a Fencing Time v4.x Standard license. Fencing Time v3.0 licenses and server licenses will not work.

Installing your Server License Key

After purchasing a Fencing Time Server license, you will receive your license key via email. This key is used to activate the Fencing Time server. Follow these simple steps to install your license key.

Server License Key Installation Steps

  1. Start the Fencing Time Database Manager from the Start menu.
  2. Log into the server using your Fencing Time administrator password.
  3. Select the "License" tab, then click the "Change" button.
  4. On the screen that appears, skip down to step 3. Copy and paste the server license key from the license email into the box on the screen. To do this, highlight the entire license key with your mouse and press Control-C on your keyboard. Return to the Fencing Time Database Manager and click the "Paste" button. The key should appear in the box on the screen.
  5. Click "OK".

If you entered the information correctly, the Fencing Time Database Manager will let you know that the key was accepted. If the key is rejected, make sure that you copied the entire key (everything between the Begin and End markers.) Also, be sure that you did not use a Standard license key; you must use a server license key.
